Bergisches Spring Highlight in Wermelskirchen

The Frühjahrskirmes Wermelskirchen is a fixture on the fair calendar of the Bergisches Land. From May 14th to 17th, 2026, showmen will fill the central Schwanenplatz with classic fair atmosphere. With around 30 stalls, the fair is manageable but well-stocked — the perfect family fair for the residents of Wermelskirchen and visitors from the surrounding Bergisches region (Burscheid, Hückeswagen, Wipperfürth, Remscheid).

The Attractions 2026

"Drive In" — The Autoscooter

The ultimate classic: the "Drive In" Autoscooter as the main attraction for teenagers and young adults. With classic fair soundtrack and disco lights for the evening atmosphere.

"Hawaii Swing" — Roller Coaster

The Hawaii Swing is a roller coaster with swinging gondolas — riders are not only exposed to the ups and downs but also swing during the ride. A popular medium-sized attraction, suitable for ages 8 and up.

"Disco Dance" — Premiere 2026

New at the 2026 Spring Fair: the "Disco Dance" carousel — a premiere for Wermelskirchen fairgoers. A classic carousel with disco lighting and modern sound systems.

Other Stalls

Family-friendly carousels for smaller children, classic game stalls (darts, balls, duck fishing, wheel of fortune), throwing stalls with plush toy prizes, pony carousel, children's carousels.

Food and Drinks

A rich selection of food: Reibekuchen with apple sauce (a Bergisches specialty), Fischbrötchen, Crêpes with sweet and savory toppings, Bratwürste, Pommes, candied apples, roasted almonds, cotton candy. Plus beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee, mulled wine (for cold evenings).

Sunday Shopping "Das Fest"

Parallel to the fair, on Sunday, there will be Sunday shopping with the "Fest" event in Wermelskirchen's town center. Shops will be open, with many special promotions, live music, and demonstrations complementing the fair's program. This creates a double weekend highlight for Wermelskirchen and its surroundings.

Wermelskirchen is a medium-sized town in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis (North Rhine-Westphalia) with about 35,000 inhabitants. Characterized by the traditional Bergisches timber trade and the hard metal industry. The town is picturesquely located in the Bergisches Land between the valleys of the Wupper and the Dhünn. The Frühjahrskirmes is one of the town's most important summer events — alongside the Herbstkirmes (Autumn Fair) in September, which is similarly structured.
