Five open-air cinema nights at the Spremberg open-air stage
The Spremberg open-air stage is located at Wiesengasse 1 – a green hollow on the outskirts of town where concerts, theatre productions, and festivals have been held for decades. Every August, the open-air stage transforms into an open-air cinema: a large screen is set up, seating and catering are arranged according to the summer weather. The Spremberg Film Nights are one of the most enduring cultural summer formats in Niederlausitz.
According to the Spremberg Tourist Information, the 2026 edition runs from Wednesday, August 19th, to Sunday, August 23rd, 2026 – five consecutive film nights. The program includes current German box office hits, European productions, and classics. It is curated by the cultural office of the city of Spremberg/Grodk in close coordination with local cinema partners. The exact film titles and start times will be announced in the weeks before the festival – screenings usually begin at dusk, meaning between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM depending on the date.
Spremberg – Grodk in Lower Sorbian – is a small town in the Spree-Neiße district in the southernmost part of Brandenburg, directly on the border with Saxony. With just under 22,000 inhabitants, it is the second-largest town in the Sorbian-Wendish settlement area after Cottbus. Spremberg is primarily known for its reservoir, the medieval castle, the industrial monument of the former glassworks, and its location on the southern Spreewald.
