Three-day summer festival of Gütersloh's largest marksmen's association at Lukasstraße
In the southeastern district of Spexard in Gütersloh, the St. Hubertus Spexard Marksmen's Association is the city's largest marksmen's association. With hundreds of members and centuries of tradition, the association shapes the district's life — and once a year, at the end of July, it invites you to the big summer and marksmen's festival at Lukasstraße.
The 2026 edition runs from Saturday, July 25th to Monday, July 27th on the festival grounds at Lukasstraße in Gütersloh-Spexard. The exact program follows the traditional choreography of a Westphalian Schützenfest:
A trademark of the Spexarder Schützenfest: beer remains stable at €2. While beer prices have risen sharply at many folk festivals in recent years, the association consciously sticks to this low-threshold pricing. The festival is intended to remain family-friendly and affordable for everyone — a statement that is appreciated in the region.
In Ostwestfalen-Lippe, marksmen's festivals are more than just folk festivals — they are anchors of identity, connectors of generations, and social bonds. The St. Hubertus Spexard Marksmen's Association actively cultivates this tradition: from the marksmen's ball to king's shooting, Corpus Christi procession, to the annual summer festival. The Schützenfest is the highlight of the club's calendar.
Spexard is located in the southeastern part of the city of Gütersloh, on the border with the Paderborn district. With around 7,000 inhabitants, Spexard is a classic Westphalian village that has retained its independence within the city of Gütersloh — primarily through its active club life. The St. Lukas Church and Lukasstraße form the center of the district, with the festival grounds directly adjacent.
Gütersloh (around 102,000 inhabitants) is the district capital of the Gütersloh district in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Economically shaped by the Bertelsmann Group, culturally by the Stadthalle and the theater scene, and rural through its numerous districts such as Spexard, Avenwedde, Friedrichsdorf — a city that oscillates between the middle class and rural tradition.
The 2026 edition of the Spexarder Schützenfest follows the proven three-day program: parade, king's shooting, king's ball, marksmen's mass, and morning pint. The full program with times will be published shortly before the date on the club's website. The St. Hubertus Spexard Marksmen's Association is the largest marksmen's association in Gütersloh.
