Rock Music in the Heart of the Spessart
Spessart Rock is one of the few festivals that bring loud riffs and deep bass to the heart of the Spessart Nature Park. Organized by the non-profit association Spessart Rock e.V., the festival annually presents a carefully curated mix of Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Stoner Rock, and Ska-Punk in the local Spessarthalle.

The venue is the Spessarthalle at Spessartstraße 4, 63871 Heinrichsthal – a municipal multi-purpose hall transformed for the festival weekend into a concert stage with a backstage area, merchandise stand, and catering. The venue is located in the district of Aschaffenburg, on the Hessian-Bavarian state border, nestled in the wooded heights of the Spessart.
Soundscapes Between Riff, Groove, and Pogo
Stylistically, Spessart Rock covers a broad spectrum. Classic hard rock bands alternate with metal acts on stage, interspersed with hypnotic grooves from stoner bands and exuberant pogo crowds from ska-punk groups. The organizers consciously focus on a mix of established underground acts and regional bands from Bavaria, Hessen, and the Rhein-Main area.
Festival by Association, Full of Character
Spessart Rock thrives on volunteer work: association members set up the stage, manage bands, run the bar, and ensure safety. This closeness between the audience, helpers, and bands shapes the familiar atmosphere that distinguishes the festival in the scene. Regional Context
The Spessart recreational area is otherwise known more for hiking trails, castles, and inns. For years, Spessart Rock has provided a contrasting point in the event calendar of the Aschaffenburg district, which is otherwise characterized by folk festivals (Volksfeste), wine festivals, and traditional church festivals (Kerwa) – proof that a vibrant rock scene also thrives in Bavaria's answer to the Black Forest.
Spessart Rock — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Spessart Rock will take place on Friday, April 24th, and Saturday, April 25th, 2026, in the Spessarthalle at Spessartstraße 4, 63871 Heinrichsthal. As always, the association Spessart Rock e.V., which organizes the festival on a voluntary basis, is the promoter.
The lineup combines classic hard rock acts, heavy metal bands, and stylistic outliers like stoner rock or ska-punk. With the tribute band Ozzy Rebourne, the young hard rock formation Sweet Electric, the heavy metal band Bird's View, and the band Rafiki, the mix is once again tailored to the regular attendees from the Spessart, Rhein-Main area, and Unterfranken.

Getting There
Heinrichsthal is located in the northern Spessart, easily accessible via the A3 motorway (exit Weibersbrunn) or the B26 from Aschaffenburg. Parking is available in the town center and near the Spessarthalle. Public transport is more challenging – travel by car is recommended.

Festival tickets from approx. €15. Admission from 7:30 PM. Tickets available through the official channels of Spessart Rock e.V., sometimes at the box office.
Backstage & Catering
Drinks and snacks are offered in the hall. An outdoor area is available for breaks. The organizers focus on moderate prices and in-house catering.
