Laufacher Kerb (Lafischer Kerb)

Laufach – Spessart Village in the District of Aschaffenburg

Laufach is a Spessart municipality with around 5,000 inhabitants in the western District of Aschaffenburg (Lower Franconia, Bavaria), located in the Laufach valley between the Spessart main ridge and the Main valley. The town has a lively club scene – sports club, music club, fire department, traditional customs clubs – and a particularly active FC Laufach, which has been one of the pillars of village culture for decades.

FC Laufach as Organizer

The annual Kerb (Franconian for Kirchweih) is organized by FC Laufach – a traditional sports club that is active in both football and village culture. The clubhouse and the adjacent sports field serve as the festival grounds, and the voluntary commitment of the club members supports the entire festival weekend.

Schedule of the Lafischer Kerb

The festival program follows the typical Franconian-Bavarian Kerb structure:

• Saturday evening: Festival opening with beer tapping, live music, catering by FC Laufach.
• Sunday from 10:00 AM: Festival operations in the clubhouse – this is also officially communicated on the Facebook page of FC Laufach. In the morning, a "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) with a brass or dance band, followed by lunch with Franconian festival specialties, a family program in the afternoon, and dance music in the evening.
• Sunday afternoon in many years supplemented by a Kerb festival parade of local clubs or a children's afternoon.

Laufacher Kulturherbst as a Framework

The Kerb is part of a multi-week cultural program organized by the municipality of Laufach together with local clubs under the name "Laufacher Kulturherbst". From late summer to the end of November, Laufach hosts concerts, readings, theater performances, and traditional festivals – the Kerb is one of the highlights of this program. In 2023, the program started with a premiere tattoo ("1. Laufach Tattoo") as a "Zapfenstreich" (tattoo ceremony) kickoff.

In the Franconian-Spessart Kerb Calendar

The Laufacher Kerb fits into the dense Kerb and village festival calendar of the western Spessart – with events in Hausen, Heigenbrücken, Frohnhofen, Aschaffenburg city districts, and many other places. It is one of the better-organized and well-attended village festivals in the region and attracts guests from the entire district of Aschaffenburg.
