Grand fan festival in honor of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill — 25th anniversary with Hector Games, film concerts, and stunt show at the Festhalle Ilmenau
The Spencerhill Festival is Europe's largest fan festival honoring the Italian film legends Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. In 2026, it celebrates its 25th anniversary — and for four days, Ilmenau will officially become 'Hillmenau'. The Festhalle and the surrounding area will transform into a Western experience world: US film vehicles, stunt shows, concerts with film music legends, cult movie screenings, and Hector Games. The festival attracts thousands of fans from Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland every year.
The anniversary features the German premiere of the stunt show 'Four Hands and a Gentleman'. Additionally, there's the 2nd round of the Hector Games with classic disciplines like arm wrestling, tug-of-war, and 'Bud's Steamhammer Challenge'. In the 360° Spencerhill Cinema Lounge, cult films are shown with immersive audio; on the festival grounds, 'Trinity Marcel' performs his knife-thrower show, and the film vehicle parade through Ilmenau has been a local spectacle for years. Iconic film cars are on display in the park; live concerts with film music composers round off the program.
Despite its fan focus, the festival is decidedly family-oriented: bumper cars, Wild West Derby, giant bouncy castles in the Kids Area, a beer garden, St. Kilian Whisky tastings for adults, and a film poster gallery are accessible free of charge. Sunday is Family Day with reduced prices and free admission for children under 16 accompanied by adults. This social component is part of the festival's DNA — the Bud Spencer spirit extends beyond the films.
The university city of Ilmenau is located on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest in the Ilm district (state of Thuringia). Known for its Goethe heritage and the TU Ilmenau, it offers sufficient hotel capacity and good transport links for the festival — A71 exit Ilmenau-West, train via Erfurt. During the festival, the film vehicle parade goes through the city center, integrating the entire urban landscape.
For its 25th anniversary, the Spencerhill team is pulling out all the stops: the Festhalle Ilmenau will become a Western saloon backdrop, and the park around the hall will be filled with US film vehicles and stage performances. Ilmenau will unofficially be 'Hillmenau' — a tribute to Terence Hill that shapes the entire cityscape. Four days of programming, free activities in the Kids Area, and a consistently fan-oriented spirit.
