Speedway Capital Landshut

Landshut has been one of the strongholds of German track racing (Speedway) for decades. The traditional club AC Landshut – Trans MF Devils Landshut operates one of the most modern Speedway stadiums in Germany at the OneSolar-Arena and regularly hosts World Championship races. With a double pack of Speedway Team World Cup Semi-Final and FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Germany within 24 hours, Landshut is setting a historic standard in 2026.

What is Speedway?

Speedway is a motorsport discipline on a shale track (gravel, ash): four or more riders compete against each other on brakeless 500cc motorcycles on an oval track, four laps counter-clockwise. The riders have a steel shoe on their left foot to slide controllably in the corners. The speed is high (up to 130 km/h on the straights), the action is close, and the noise level is impressive. Speedway is a national sport in Poland, England, Sweden, and Australia, and a niche sport in Germany with large local strongholds.

The OneSolar-Arena

The OneSolar-Arena (formerly: Speedwaystadion Landshut) has been modernized in recent years and, with its 314-meter shale track, is one of the fastest and best Speedway tracks in Europe. It offers seating for several thousand spectators with good views of the entire track. The stadium is operated by AC Landshut, which is also active in the Speedway Bundesliga league with the Trans MF Devils.

Day 1 – Speedway of Nations Semi-Final

On Friday, May 1st, 2026, Landshut will host Semi-Final 1 of the 2026 Speedway Team World Championship. National Speedway teams compete against each other in a team format. The German national team with Kai Huckenbeck, Norick Blödorn, Erik Riss, and Kevin Wölbert will race in front of their home crowd.

Day 2 – FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Germany

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, the highlight follows: the WWK Schwaiger & Partner FIM Speedway GP of Germany as Round 1 of the 2026 Speedway World Championship. The 16 best Speedway riders in the world will compete in 23 heats and final rounds for the first points of the 2026 World Championship:

• Bartosz Zmarzlik (Poland) – six-time World Champion, defending champion, one of the most dominant Speedway riders in history
• Brady Kurtz (Australia) – Vice World Champion 2025
• Other international top stars from Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Australia, and Germany

GP starts at 7:00 PM, stadium gates open at 1:00 PM, qualifying at 2:00 PM, autograph session with riders from 4:30 PM.

Speedway History in Landshut

Speedway in Landshut has a decades-long tradition – generations of Lower Bavarians have visited the track, and the 2026 event is the culmination of AC Landshut's consistent commitment to top international sport. The club works closely with the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) and the marketing company Discovery Sports Events.
