About SchlossSommer-Ausklang Paderborn
SchlossSommer-Ausklang Paderborn — edition 2026
Season Finale on German Unity Day
On October 3, 2026, the SchlossSommer-Ausklang takes place in the palace park of Schloss Neuhaus — the last major event of the summer series, which has offered concerts, markets, and family programs since June. Combined with the nationwide Tag der Regionen, the day becomes a homage to the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region.
The program begins at 10:30 AM with an ecumenical festival service at the Brunnentheater in the palace park — followed by the all-day market and family program. Local producers and artisans present their products: regional food, arts and crafts, regional specialities. Live music and stage performances complement the offerings until the late afternoon.

Schloss Neuhaus — Renaissance Jewel of Paderborn
Schloss Neuhaus is one of the most important Renaissance palace complexes in North Rhine-Westphalia — located at the confluence of the Lippe, Alme, Pader, and Beke rivers in the north of Paderborn. The former residential palace of the Prince-Bishops of Paderborn (now municipal property) forms the city's largest recreational area together with the palace park and Lippesee. The organizer of the SchlossSommer seasonal series is the Schlosspark und Lippesee Gesellschaft — the municipal subsidiary responsible for marketing the palace, park, and lake.
SchlossSommer — The Seasonal Series
The SchlossSommer is the summer event program in the palace park — from June to October, a colourful mix of concerts, family events, culinary markets, sports events, and summer cinema. The main sponsor for years has been Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold. The SchlossSommer-Ausklang on German Unity Day (October 3) is the last major event of the season — before the program goes into its winter break.
Tag der Regionen — Local and Sustainable
The SchlossSommer-Ausklang is closely linked to the nationwide Tag der Regionen, which annually celebrates regional products, local supply chains, and sustainable production around October 3. At the festival grounds around Schloss Neuhaus, local marketers and producers present their products: regional bakers with Westphalian bread, beekeepers with Pader honey, cheese producers from the Sauerland region, wine and sparkling wine cellars from northern Hesse, sausage and ham producers from Münsterland, farmstead cheese, jams, and liqueurs.
Family Program and Brunnentheater Service
The family program starts early: from 10:30 AM, the congregation gathers at the Brunnentheater in the palace park for the ecumenical festival service — which has been a tradition for years at the SchlossSommer-Ausklang. Afterwards, a family program throughout the park: children's activities, small stages with fairy tales and music, hands-on activities by artisans, a petting zoo, and bouncy castles.
Culinary Delights and Live Music
Regional specialities dominate the culinary offerings: Reibekuchen (potato pancakes) from Westphalia, Currywurst with Pader Curry, Münsterland ham, autumnal game dishes, accompanied by cider and new wine. Live music accompanies the program — from brass bands of local clubs to singer-songwriter sets in the palace park. The Brunnentheater serves as a stage several times a day.
