Three days of festival in and around the Kleinenbremen visitor mine — Pop, film music, and techno
The Sparkassen Bergwerk Festival utilizes an unusual setting: the K বিচ্ছিন্নenbremen visitor mine, a historic ore mine in the Wesergebirge hills of Porta Westfalica. On the forecourt, in the quarry, and partly within the mine itself, artists from pop, classical, and electronic music will perform over three days. The festival is one of Ostwestfalen-Lippe's best-known summer events, combining industrial culture with an open-air concert atmosphere.
The No Angels kick off the festival with their TwentyFive Live Tour. The German pop group celebrates 25 years since their debut — Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling, Nadja Benaissa, and Jessica Wahls bring the hits of the early 2000s („Daylight in Your Eyes", „Something About Us", „No Angel") to Porta Westfalica. The concert takes place outdoors against the backdrop of the mine.
Friday is dedicated to classic summer evenings: Night of Film Music with the Kammerphilharmonie Europa, the Filmchor, and the Swiss tenors I Quattro. Solo violin: Cordelia Hagmann. The program features classics from film and musicals — from „The Godfather" to „Star Wars", „The Lord of the Rings", „Game of Thrones", and Disney anthems. A format that has attracted a multi-generational audience in Porta Westfalica for years.
The finale is Beat am Berg: an electronic night for ages 18 and up, with four sound zones spread across the mine site, featuring star DJs from techno, house, and electronic music. This event has established itself as one of the most popular festival experiences for the OWL club scene. Up to 10,000 visitors are expected over the weekend.
The main sponsor and namesake is the Sparkasse Bad Oeynhausen-Porta Westfalica. Festival Director is Patrick Zander, presenter is Martin Franken, and the mine is managed by Daniel Schmidt. The organization combines professional event management with the local roots of the Sparkasse — a model that has been successful in Porta Westfalica for years.
Porta Westfalica is a town in the Minden-Lübbecke district with approximately 35,000 inhabitants. It is named after the Porta Westfalica, the Weser river's breakthrough between the Wesergebirge and Wiehengebirge hills — one of Northern Germany's most famous natural landmarks. The Kaiser Wilhelm Monument on the Wittekindsberg is one of the region's landmarks. The Kleinenbremen visitor mine accesses a historic iron ore tunnel and is open year-round; for the festival, the outdoor area is also utilized.
In 2026, the festival brings back its proven three-day concept to Kleinenbremen. Headliner concert by No Angels on Thursday, family-friendly classical program on Friday, techno night on Saturday.
