Spandau and the Havel Riverbank Quarter
Spandau is not just a district of Berlin, but also an independent historical city — older than Berlin itself, with its own old town, its own citadel, and its own civic pride. The Havel riverbank quarter with Maselakepark in the Hakenfelde district is one of Berlin's most beautiful waterfront locations: here the Spandau Canal flows into the Havel, large meadows and trees frame the park, small jetties for boats and a sandy beach make the area the ideal open-air stage.
Three Days of Stage Summer
The festival relies on a classic three-day structure:
- Friday evening: Beach party with DJ Josiah Bruce and summer hits — 2 PM–10 PM
- Saturday: Main stage program with live concert by Störtebüker — Die Rockpiraten (5 PM–8 PM) and DJ sets afterwards — 12 PM–10 PM
- Sunday: DJ sets and various live acts, family finale — 12 PM–8 PM
On the Festival Grounds
- Children's carousel
- Shooting gallery and classic fairground games
- Street food trucks with German and international cuisine
- Beer and cocktail bars
- Completely free admission
Hakenfelde and Northern Spandau
Hakenfelde is a rather quiet, green district in northern Spandau, characterized by single-family home developments and large bodies of water. Visitors to Spandauer Sommer typically combine it with a boat trip on the Havel, a walk in Spandau's old town, or a visit to the Spandau Citadel (Renaissance fortress, one of the best-preserved buildings of its kind in Europe).
