Blues, Boogie and Folk in a Renaissance Castle between Halle and Leipzig
Schloss Dieskau, in the Dieskau district of the municipality of Kabelsketal, is an exceptionally well-preserved Renaissance castle from the 16th century. Nestled in a spacious park with old trees, it lies exactly halfway between Halle (Saale) and Leipzig — an ideal excursion for culture enthusiasts from both cities. For years, the concert agency Bati Music has been organizing the Sunday concert series in cooperation with the castle.
The profile of the series is clear: Blues, Boogie-Woogie, and Folk styles. In 2026, seven concerts will form the program. Opening on June 19th with the Big Joe Stolle Blues Band, a staple of the Central German blues scene. This will be followed by Jones & the Crew in July, Bernd Kleinow & Dodge Boogie with his classic harmonica boogie program, Niels von der Leyen in September, and the absolute highlight on November 8th: Abi Wallenstein & Blues Rudy — Abi Wallenstein is one of Germany's longest-serving blues musicians, a slide guitar heritage that will be particularly showcased in the castle hall. In November, Bernd Kleinow will perform again with Axel & Max Blume, and to close the year on December 18th, Andreas Bock & Friends will present the Christmas concert.
The concerts take place in the historic festival hall of the castle — stucco ceiling, old wooden parquet floors, acoustics like a 19th-century salon. Around 100 guests can be seated at bistro tables, creating an intimate and focused atmosphere. Admission is in the moderate double-digit range; reservations are highly recommended as concerts often sell out.
Schloss Dieskau belongs to Kabelsketal in the Saalekreis district, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The municipality of Kabelsketal lies on the southern outskirts of Halle and is very well accessible by S-Bahn and car. Those who discover the series once almost always return — it is a well-kept secret tip of the Central German blues scene.
Seven curated concerts spread throughout the year, curated by Bati Music. The series appeals to blues and boogie lovers — and utilizes the acoustics and atmosphere of the historic festival hall of Renaissance Castle Dieskau.
