Season highlight of the Promenade Flea Market — Night market with extended opening hours
Münster boasts one of Germany's most beautiful inner-city promenades — a 4.5 km long, car-free ring along the former city wall, lined with old trees and meadows. For decades, this promenade has been the stage for the famous Promenade Flea Market on summer weekends — one of the largest open-air flea markets in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2026, a total of five dates are planned; one of them is the special night version.
The special feature of the Summer Night Flea Market is its opening hours from 8 PM to 2 AM (setup from 6 PM). This clearly distinguishes the night market from the daytime events — the atmosphere is more relaxed, romantic, and the audience is younger. Friday, June 19, 2026 is the set date — shortly after the start of summer, with long days and mild nights.
The market extends along the promenade between Gerichtsstraße and Neutor/Schlossplatz — the north-western section of the ring promenade. The official lawn area is registration-free: anyone can bring their items and claim a selling spot as long as space is available. In addition, there are paid permanent pitches for commercial vendors.
Classic flea market assortment plus Münster's mix: vintage fashion (especially popular with students), books and vinyl records, designer furniture, household goods, toys, jewelry. Münster's alternative scene is also represented here — artists sell original works, designers smaller editions. Those with patience and good bargaining skills can find real treasures.
What sets the night flea market apart from others: the atmosphere. On the tree-lined promenade under the summer sky, in the warmth of a Westphalian summer night, with a beer in hand and relaxed music from Bluetooth speakers at individual stalls — the Summer Night Flea Market is one of Münster's most atmospheric summer events. Students, young parents, collectors, and casual promenade strollers mingle equally.
Münster is the cycling capital of Germany with a share of bicycles in traffic of around 40%. The promenade is the central axis of this cycling culture — and the night market is accordingly well accessible by bike. Those who travel there are best advised to park at Schlossplatz or the large bike racks on Gerichtsstraße.
In the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and throughout the Münsterland region, the Promenade Flea Market holds a firm place in the cultural calendar. Anyone looking for a summer Münster experience: this flea market is one.
