Tradition since the 1990s
Landau Children's Day was launched in the early 1990s and has since developed into one of the largest family events in the Pfalz region. With its 33rd edition in 2026, it is among the most traditional children's festivals in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since the end of the State Garden Show in 2014, it has been held in the Südpark, whose extensive grounds offer ideal conditions.
Over 50 Hands-on Activities
More than 50 clubs, associations, social institutions, churches, youth groups, and initiatives from Landau and the surrounding area set up their stands in the park. The spectrum ranges from climbing towers and bouncy castles to craft workshops, sports courses, and theater improvisation, as well as nature experiences, beekeeping, fire department activities, and early music education. There's nothing you can't find.
Around 800 Volunteers
Behind the Children's Day is an extraordinary volunteer commitment. Around 800 volunteers supervise the activities, organize setup and dismantling, ensure smooth operation, and are available as contact persons for the children. This commitment has been the recipe for success of the event for years.
Free and Non-Commercial
An important pillar of the Children's Day is its non-commercial character. All hands-on activities are free of charge. Commercial advertising, sales stands, and promotional activities are not permitted. Admission is free; some clubs offer small refreshments for donations.
Co-organizers Wanted
The Municipal Youth Services of Landau annually recruits new participating groups. Anyone wishing to participate with a hands-on activity can contact the Youth Services in advance – the requirement is a non-commercial, child-friendly offer.
