Bring what you no longer need — take what you're looking for
The Teupitz Barter Day is not a classic flea market — nothing changes hands for money here. The principle is simple: everyone brings what they have at home in good condition but no longer need, and takes in exchange what they currently need. Books, children's toys, tools, dishes, clothing, decorations, plants — the range is wide and changes from year to year depending on what participants offer. The event is a lived form of barter economy and circular thinking in the Schenkenländchen.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 10:30 AM, the 14th edition of the Teupitz Barter Day will take place. The venue, as in previous years, is the Gaststätte zur Linde in the Tornow district of Teupitz, directly on Seestraße 27. The rural location by the lake fits the character of the event — relaxed, village-like, intergenerational. You don't need to register: just bring your items, put them on the exchange table, and browse the offerings of others yourself.
The event is organized by BiKuT, the volunteer working group for education, culture, and tourism of the tourism association Schenkenland Tourist e.V.. The association has been committed to low-threshold meeting formats in the Schenkenländchen for years — from hikes and lectures to barter and repair events. The Barter Day is one of the classics in the annual calendar.
Tornow is a district of the town of Teupitz, located in the Dahme-Spreewald district in southern Brandenburg. The region is called Schenkenländchen — a forest-rich lake landscape southeast of Berlin, which is one of the oldest nature park areas in Brandenburg. The Gaststätte zur Linde is a traditional country inn with a large outdoor area, where bartering takes place outdoors in good weather.
The Barter Day is more than just resource conservation. It's a social event: you chat with neighbors, hear stories about objects, and discover that your discarded items can be true treasures for others. A visit is especially worthwhile for families with children — children's books, toys, and baby clothes change hands the fastest.
