5th Children's Festival in Fontanepark Teupitz — Saturday, May 30, 2026, 11 AM to 3 PM, Free Admission
Teupitz is a small town with just under 2,000 inhabitants in the Dahme-Spreewald district, southeast of Berlin. The historic old town is located on Lake Teupitz, one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the "Schenkenländchen" — a lake district that extends around the Schenkenseen lakes. Berliners know the region as a local recreation area: swimming, boating, hiking, discovering beautiful villages. Teupitz Castle and the Fontanepark shape the town's image. The children's festival is one of the younger traditions — for the fifth time in 2026.
The Fontanepark is a small, well-maintained town park on Kirchstraße, named after Theodor Fontane, who literarily explored the Mark Brandenburg. With old trees, play areas, seating, and small sculptures, it is a typical Brandenburg citizens' park — perfect for a children's festival, as it is manageable and safe, with short distances. Small cultural events such as summer readings or open-air theater are also regularly held here.
The 2026 program runs from 11 AM to 3 PM — a classic morning-afternoon format, ideal for families with young children. The program includes all the classics of a village children's festival: shooting gallery (stand with cork gun and glass bottles), lucky wheel with prizes from regional donations, face painting corner (faces are painted — tigers, butterflies, Spiderman), craft station with paper, pens, and glue. In addition, there are sports activities (sack race, egg race, small ball games), games, music, and small live performances. Refreshments with sausages, cakes, lemonade, ice cream, and fries — financed by donations and small contributions at the stands. The exact program and possible special activities will be communicated by BiKuT in the weeks before the festival on the town's website.
The organizer is the BiKuT association (Bildungs-, Kultur- und Tourismus-Verein Teupitz), which also organizes other events in Teupitz — the goods exchange day in spring and the lake swimming event in summer. A typical volunteer cultural association that contributes significantly to the cultural life of the small town with minimal resources. The reaction of Teupitz families to the children's festival has been positive from the beginning — the 5th edition in 2026 confirms the concept.
The 5th Teupitzer Kinderfest continues the tradition that has been growing annually since 2022. Four hours of focused program in the manageable setting of Fontanepark — not a mega-event, but an intimate town festival for the families of Teupitz and visitors from the Schenkenländchen. The exact hourly program and possible special activities will be published by the BiKuT association in the weeks before the festival on the town's website.
