The SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg combines international masterclasses and a public concert series. For two and a half weeks, the baroque Hundisburg Castle in the Börde district becomes a meeting point for young musicians from all over the world – with around 20 concerts ranging from chamber music to jazz to symphony concerts in and around the castle and in the town of Haldensleben.

The 34th SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg runs from July 31 to August 16, 2026, with around 20 events in and around Hundisburg Castle and in Haldensleben. The festival opening was celebrated on April 18, 2026, with the program presentation; advance booking starts June 3, 2026, 8 a.m.

Two and a half weeks of classical festival in the baroque Hundisburg Castle. The exact concert schedule will be published via the program brochure (available on sma-hundisburg.de). Expected are large symphony concerts, chamber music evenings, a jazz cross-genre format, the Children's Music Festival, and several solo recitals. Participants: young international scholarship holders and renowned lecturers.

Getting There

By train: Haldensleben station, from there about 4 km to Hundisburg Castle. Shuttle services are sometimes available during the festival.

By car: A2 exit Bornstedt, B71 to Haldensleben, follow signs for Schloss Hundisburg. Parking available at the castle.

Classics in the Baroque Castle

The SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg has been one of the most consistent classical series in northern Saxony-Anhalt since 1993. What began as a masterclass academy for young musicians has grown into a publicly accessible festival over the years. Today, international students and lecturers from the USA, Asia, and all of Europe come to Hundisburg every year to work in the rooms of the baroque castle – and to present their results in public concerts in the evening.

Hundisburg Castle is one of the largest baroque buildings between Magdeburg and the Altmark region, with a sprawling park and an acoustically excellent ballroom. Around 20 concerts are held in various formats during the festival period: large symphony and choir concerts, chamber music evenings, solo recitals, jazzy cross-genre formats, and the popular "Children's Music Festival". Some concerts also take place at venues in Haldensleben itself and in the surrounding villages – the festival consciously sees itself as a bridge between high culture and the region.

Haldensleben is the district town of the Börde district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, located about 25 kilometers northwest of Magdeburg. The region is characterized by the landscape of the Magdeburg Börde – fertile farmland, small baroque castles, quiet villages. A conscious slowdown in the hectic festival summer.
