Traditional club summer festival in Berlin's southernmost district Schmöckwitz
The district of Schmöckwitz forms the southernmost tip of Berlin. Surrounded by forests and the Dahme lake chain with Langen See, Zeuthener See, and Krossinsee, the area was historically an independent municipality and was only incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920. Karolinenhof is a residential quarter within Schmöckwitz, characterised by Rohrwallallee and its adjacency to the forest — a rare Berlin address with a front garden idyll.
The Siedlergemeinschaft Karolinenhof e.V. was founded in the late 1960s and has represented the interests of homeowners and garden users in the neighbourhood ever since. It is part of the Federal Association of German Garden Friends structures and, in addition to club activities, organises the annual summer festival, which has been held since the early years. 2026 will be the 58th edition — if you do the math, it goes back to the late 1960s.
The summer festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 27th and 28th, 2026, starting at 2 PM each day. The venue is the club grounds at Rohrwallallee 71, in the heart of the residential area. The format is a typical German club festival: live music or DJ, food and drink stands with sausages and beer, games for children, and social gatherings for neighbours. It is primarily a festival for members and local residents, but outsiders are welcome in a relaxed atmosphere.
There is also a Siedlungsgenossenschaft Karolinenhof e.G. (housing cooperative) in the same neighbourhood, which organises its own summer festival. Both structures are connected by neighbourhood ties but are organisationally independent: e.V. (registered association) versus e.G. (cooperative). The festival described here is explicitly that of the settlers' association.
The Treptow-Köpenick borough is Berlin's largest in area and also its most wooded district. Festivals and celebrations in the southern districts like Schmöckwitz, Grünau, and Müggelheim are closely linked to the water and forest character — water festivals, boat races, and club festivals shape the summer calendar. The Karolinenhof Summer Festival is part of this character.
The 2026 summer festival is the 58th edition of the club festival. The Siedlergemeinschaft Karolinenhof e.V. has been organising the festival since the late 1960s as a central annual club event. On Saturday, June 27th, and Sunday, June 28th, 2026, programme activities will take place at Rohrwallallee 71, starting at 2 PM each day. Specific programme items will traditionally be published on the club's website and in the schmoeckwitz.de event directory.
Detailed programme will be published shortly before the date on sg-karolinenhof.de and schmoeckwitz.de.
