Sport, exhibition and lake stage festival on the historic 1880s regatta course
The Berlin-Grünau Regatta Course was built in 1880 as one of Germany's first regatta facilities and hosted the rowing and canoe events of the 1936 Summer Olympics. Today, it is one of Germany's most important training and competition courses for Olympic rowing and a unique Berlin natural monument: 2 kilometers of straight watercourse on the Langen See, nestled within the Berlin Forest.
The 9th Berlin Watersports Festival 2026 runs from June 26th to 28th: Friday 2 PM–10 PM, Saturday 10 AM–10 PM, Sunday 10 AM–8 PM. Classic boats (dragon boats, traditional rowing boats, historic sailboats) pass along the shore. Regattas and competitions by Berlin clubs alternate with boat ballet performances, live music on the lake stage, and a sports exhibition. Those who want to get on the water themselves can book taster courses for sailing, rowing, and canoeing — the most beautiful Berlin water-summer event for families.
Grünau is a district in the Treptow-Köpenick borough in southeastern Berlin, nestled between forests and lakes. The regatta course and the Grünau lido are among the classic Berlin recreational destinations — since the Wilhelminian era, Berliners visited 'the Müggelberge' and 'the Langen See' on weekends. The Watersports Festival preserves this tradition: sport, nature experience, exhibition, and family program all in one.
