Five days of Upper Bavarian village festival in Obersöchering with brass music, Spider Murphy Gang, and Martina Schwarzmann
When the large festival tent is erected around Obersöchering in the Weilheim-Schongau district in mid-June, the Söcheringer Festtage begin. For five days, the Upper Bavarian village celebrates its three traditional clubs: the Söchering Music Association (founded in 1870), the Drummer Corps, and the GTEV (Traditional Costume Preservation Association) Stoaröserl. In 2025, the 155th anniversary of the Music Association was celebrated, along with 60 years of the Drummer Corps and 105 years of the Stoaröserl. The 2026 edition continues this festival tradition.
The festival days follow a classic Upper Bavarian festival week structure: Opening on Thursday with the Day of Businesses and Neighborhoods, inviting regional companies and neighboring communities. This is followed by a Party Night, a Day of Brass Music, the grand Festival Sunday with a procession, field service, and parade, and a concluding Cabaret Night.
The people of Söchering always bring well-known names to their festival tent. In 2026, the lineup includes the Spider Murphy Gang – arguably Bavaria's most famous rock band –, the Upper Bavarian dialect duo Gsindl, regional brass bands, an Oberkrainer formation, and on the closing night, the Bavarian cabaret artist Martina Schwarzmann.
Obersöchering is located in the so-called Pfaffenwinkel, a particularly scenic region in southern Bavaria between Murnau and Weilheim, characterized by Baroque pilgrimage churches, meadows, the Riegsee lake, and pre-Alpine moors. The town is part of the Upper Bavarian traditional costume and traditional music heritage, which becomes particularly visible during the festival days.
The Söcheringer Festtage 2026 will take place from Thursday, June 18, to Monday, June 22, 2026, in Obersöchering. The organizers are the Söchering Music Association, the Drummer Corps, and the GTEV Stoaröserl.
The festival tent is located in the town center, with the multi-day live program featuring prominent acts from the Bavarian music and cabaret scene at its heart.
