Sinsheim — City on the Edge of the Kraichgau
The City of Sinsheim (around 36,200 inhabitants, Rhein-Neckar district) is located on the southern edge of the Kraichgau, between Heidelberg and Heilbronn. Sinsheim is known nationwide as a neighboring city to Walldorf, home of the SAP Group, but above all for the PreZero Arena (home stadium of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim) and the Sinsheim Technology Museum with the Concorde and the Tu-144. The historic Old Town with Burgplatz and Kirchplatz — directly below the former castle ruins — is the venue for the annual city festival.
Two-Day City Festival July 18–19, 2026
The Sinsheim City Festival 2026 will take place on Saturday, July 18th, and Sunday, July 19th, 2026. The venue is the historic city center with Burgplatz, Kirchplatz, and Kirchstraße. A compact, enclosed festival area that allows the medieval city structure to shine.
Opening Saturday 5 PM
The official festival opening will take place on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, at 5:00 PM — on the main stage at Burgplatz. The mayor or a representative of the city administration will welcome the citizens, and the traditional tapping of the first keg will start the festival. Afterward, the stage and the club stands will take over.
Several Stages with Live Bands
There are several stages spread across the festival grounds, featuring performances by regional live bands. Based on experience, the program typically includes:
- Cover bands with rock, pop, and Schlager repertoire
- Folk music and brass band music from local Sinsheim clubs
- Young acts (indie, reggae, pop-rock) from the Rhein-Neckar region
- DJ sets in the later evening for a younger audience
Club Stands and Culinary Diversity
As with many Palatinate city festivals, the clubs are responsible for the catering. Sinsheim sports clubs, schools, church communities, migrant associations, and aid organizations operate stands offering:
- Swabian-Palatinate specialties: Bratwurst, Maultaschen, Schnitzel, potato salad
- International stands: Italian pasta, Turkish specialties, Balkan cuisine
- Homemade cakes and ice cream
- Draft beer, Kraichgau wines, non-alcoholic beverages
Sunday with a Family Focus
Sunday, July 19th, 2026, traditionally has a family focus: a morning pint in the forenoon, hands-on activities for children in the afternoon (bouncy castles, mobile playground, craft activities, sports demonstrations by local clubs), live music with a family-friendly program. The festival concludes in the late Sunday evening.
