Comeback after the break: four days of rock and street food on Böckingen's Viehweide
The Seefest on Böckingen's Viehweide is one of the oldest independent open-airs in the Heilbronn region. Since the 1990s, it has gathered a loyal following on the festival grounds in the Böckingen district every summer — without major sponsors, without commercial branding, with free admission and a clear roots in Heilbronn's subculture. In 2025, the event was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with the Heilbronn Lichterfest. The 32nd edition is planned for 2026 as a grand comeback — and anticipation in the scene is high.
From Wednesday, June 3rd to Saturday, June 6th, 2026, two bands will play on the open-air stage each evening — a concept that keeps the atmosphere compact while allowing for two different musical poles each night. The 2026 acts include some comeback formations from previous years, complemented by fresh bands from Heilbronn and the wider region.
Admission to the Seefest has always been free. Financing comes from gastronomy: a beer garden with cool beer, street food stalls with burgers, fries, pizza, vegetarian and vegan options. The audience ranges from long-time regulars who visited the festival back in the 1990s to the young Heilbronn subculture generation — students from DHBW, Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, and TU Heilbronn, school cliques from the surrounding area, families from Böckingen. In 2024, the event attracted around 10,000 visitors.
After the last concert, an afterparty will take place each night — on the festival grounds itself, with a DJ set and a summery atmosphere. Organizer Matthias Kern, who has been running the festival for years, has announced a new visual concept for 2026, aiming to distinguish the festival from the classic open-air mainstream character.
The Seefest complements Heilbronn's summer event offerings — alongside the Heilbronner Volksfest, the Lichterfest, the Klassik-Open-Air, and the Vinum Riesling Festival. Heilbronn, a major city on the Neckar, is one of Baden-Württemberg's most dynamic medium-sized centers, and the Seefest is one of the city's most important bastions of the independent scene.
The 32nd Seefest 2026 will take place from Wednesday, June 3rd to Saturday, June 6th, 2026, on Böckingen's Viehweide in Heilbronn. The organizer is the long-standing Heilbronn festival crew led by Matthias Kern. Admission is free as always; financing comes from the beer garden and street food stalls.
Two bands perform each evening — a well-rehearsed concept that keeps the festival atmosphere compact and intimate. After each final concert, an afterparty takes place on the festival grounds. A new visual concept has been announced for 2026, aiming to visually distinguish the festival from the mainstream. Anticipation in the Heilbronn subculture scene is accordingly high after the 2025 break.
