Rostock's Open-Air Jazz Festival in August
The See More Jazz Festival is organized by Jazzclub Rostock e.V. and has been bringing outstanding jazz music to the Hanseatic city every August since 2009. Instead of a single festival stage, the festival uses several distinctive venues in the city – the Klostergarten, the Zoo Rostock, and the Kunsthalle – each offering a unique setting for the concerts.
The program ranges from classical and traditional jazz to contemporary styles and world music influences. Ensembles from Germany and other European countries are invited, as well as artists from more distant musical cultures. This allows the festival to appeal to both connoisseurs and an open, curious audience.
Rostock, the largest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with its university and vibrant cultural scene, has an audience that appreciates open-air events in the summer. The See More Jazz Festival is integrated into the city's summer event calendar and simultaneously makes locations like the Klostergarten or the Zoo experienceable as concert backdrops.
