Traditional club festival of the Schützengilde Radbruch und Umgebung of 1899 on the second weekend of June
The Schützengilde Radbruch und Umgebung von 1899 e.V. is one of the shooting clubs founded in the late 19th century as part of the civil association movement in many Lower Saxony villages. With its 125 years, it is one of the traditional guilds in the northern district of Lüneburg. Members come not only from Radbruch itself but also from the surrounding villages of the Samtgemeinde Bardowick. Sport shooting with small-bore rifles and air rifles, as well as social club life, form the core of the club's activities.
The Schützenfest follows the proven program structure of North German shooting traditions. Saturday begins with the assembly of club members in shooting club uniform and the march to the shooting range. This is followed by the king's shooting and other shooting competitions for cups and honorary plaques. In the late afternoon or evening, the new monarchs — the King, the Queen, and the Youth King — are proclaimed. The evening concludes with a dance in the festival tent with a live band or DJ. Sunday features the festival parade through Radbruch, the morning pint with brass music, and the family program.
Like all village shooting festivals in the region, the Schützenfest Radbruch is open to the entire village. Families will find carousels, bouncy castles, children's entertainment, and small game stations on the festival grounds. The morning pint on Sunday morning has always been the social meeting point for the village community — with beer, bratwurst, and brass music, the village comes together.
Radbruch is located north of Lüneburg and belongs to the Samtgemeinde Bardowick. With around 1,200 inhabitants, the municipality is manageable — club life centered around the shooting club, the fire department, and the church community shapes the social profile. The annual Schützenfest is the social highlight and at the same time an attraction for guests from neighboring towns.
As in previous years, Saturday begins with the assembly of club members in shooting club uniform and the march to the shooting range. King's shooting and other shooting competitions fill the afternoon. In the evening, the new monarchs are proclaimed, and the dance evening in the festival tent opens the social part. Sunday focuses on the festival parade through Radbruch, the King's dinner, the morning pint with brass music, and the family program with children's entertainment in the afternoon.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the Schützengilde about four weeks before the festival. The structure follows the proven key points:
