About Schützenfest Laer
Schützenfest Laer — edition 2026
The 2026 edition follows the proven structure of the Vereinigte Schützenbruderschaft Laer. The pre-program with Ladies' Night and Frühshoppen extends the actual Schützenfest to a full festival week.
The dress code on the main days — formal attire, marksmen's uniform — shapes the festive character. The marquee on the sports hall grounds serves as the central assembly and festival hall.
Highlights Schützenfest Laer 2026

Schützenbruderschaft with Münsterland Tradition
The Vereinigte Schützenbruderschaft Laer e.V. is one of the most traditional marksmen's associations in the Steinfurt district. It cultivates the shooting and festival culture characteristic of Münsterland and annually hosts a multi-day Schützenfest on Corpus Christi, which attracts guests from far beyond the municipality.
Program Structure 2026
The 2026 Schützenfest spans several days and program points. Already on Wednesday, June 3rd, the 'Ladies' Night – Women's Flea Market in Laer' takes place in the marquee (7–11:45 PM) — a developed pre-program that particularly appeals to women. On Thursday, June 4th (Corpus Christi), the traditional Frühshoppen in Pastor's Garden follows the procession. From June 5th to 7th, the actual Schützenfest takes place with the opening ceremony, King's Shoot, and parade — dress code required on Friday and all subsequent days.
Dress Code and Tradition
The Vereinigte Schützenbruderschaft Laer values a formal dress code for the official program points. Marksmen appear in full uniform; guests are asked to be festively dressed. This tradition is part of the charm of the festival — it combines the preservation of customs with festival culture in a way that many urban events have long abandoned.
Visit to the Holthausen Schützenfest
A special feature of the Vereinigte Schützenbruderschaft Laer: on June 13th, 2026, the members will jointly attend the Schützenfest of the neighboring district of Holthausen — a gesture of marksmen's fraternity deeply rooted in Münsterland.
Laer in the Steinfurt District
Laer is a municipality with just under 6,500 inhabitants in the southern Steinfurt district, nestled in the typical Münsterland park landscape with farms, forests, and moats. The combination of Catholic tradition and voluntary club life shapes the village — the Schützenfest is the annual highlight.
