Children's Carnival of the Derkemer Grawler in the Hardenburg Gymnasium with games, dances, and carnival spirit for the whole family
The Kinderfasching is a central element of the annual program for many carnival clubs – for good reason: it introduces the next generations to the carnival tradition, sparks enthusiasm, and ensures cultural continuity. For years, the Derkemer Grawler have emphasized an attractive Kinderfasching, making the event a significant contribution to the vibrant Palatinate carnival culture.
The gymnasium in Bad Dürkheim-Hardenburg offers ample space for the approximately 200 to 400 children and adults expected at the Kinderfasching. With its spacious floor area, stage, and surrounding rooms, it is ideally suited for an event with lots of movement, dancing, and games. Festive carnival decorations transform the plain sports hall into a colorful carnival backdrop.
The program begins at 1:30 PM and is scheduled for about three hours. The children's guards of the Derkemer Grawler will perform their rehearsed dances on stage, along with show dance groups, children's choirs, and short plays. In addition, there will be participatory games for the children: dance competitions, costume awards, conga lines, musical chairs, and classic carnival games. Face painting stations help children who haven't brought a costume to transform creatively.
The carnival club provides catering with family-friendly options: juice, soda, coffee, cake, sausages, and sweets. Prices are kept moderate to make it easier for families to attend.
The Kinderfasching is part of the extensive carnival activities of the Derkemer Grawler, who shape the entire carnival season with their grand ball (February 7th, 2026), carnival parade (February 17th, 2026), and other events. Those who attend the Kinderfasching can later complement the experience by visiting the big parade on Shrove Tuesday and thus get to know the full spectrum of Palatinate Fastnacht culture.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Derkemer Grawler in January. The structure follows the proven key points from previous years:
