Five-day Schützenfest and fair from May 29 to June 2, 2026, on the Kirmesplatz Alleestraße — Bürgerschützen- und Heimatverein Jüchen 1880
Jüchen is located in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district, between Mönchengladbach and Grevenbroich, with around 23,000 inhabitants. The town is home to the famous Schloss Dyck (one of the most important moated castles in the Lower Rhine region) and serves as a cultural hub for the area. Jüchen has been firmly rooted in the marksmen's tradition since 1880: The Bürgerschützen- und Heimatverein Jüchen 1880 e.V. (BSHV) annually hosts the grand Schützenfest on the Pentecost weekend.
The 2026 Schützenfest runs for five days:
The reigning King and Queen of the BSHV are Bastian and Ulrike. The couple represents the fraternity internally and externally in 2025/26 — attending receptions at neighboring fraternities, official events in the town, pilgrimages, and the main Schützenfest. The registered Crown Prince and Princess for 2026 are Marc and Martina Reipen — they will compete for the title at the 2026 bird shooting competition.
Jens Jagdfeld leads the club as President. The BSHV is organized into several regiments, each with its own commanders and marching bands. Throughout the year, events like the Sebastiani Festival, shooting competitions, receptions, and club evenings take place — the main festival on the Pentecost weekend is the annual highlight.
A special feature of Lower Rhine Schützenfeste is the Star March: The individual club regiments march from various assembly points through the town, converging at a central location — a "Star March" that resembles a converging star. In Jüchen, the Star March traditionally takes place on Pentecost Sunday, with the meeting point at the Kirmesplatz or the market square.
Alongside the Schützenfest, a full-fledged Pentecost Fair (Kirmes) operates at the Kirmesplatz Alleestraße:
The festival tent evenings are popular with the younger generation: Live bands play cover rock, Schlager, and party hits on the main evenings (Friday, Saturday, Pentecost Monday). Tickets or free entry depending on the day's event.
Important: The BSHV notes on its website that all dates are "subject to change" — individual program items may be adjusted due to adverse weather, attendance numbers, or other factors. It is advisable to check the club's current website before visiting.
Jüchen train station is a 5-minute walk from the fairground. By car: A46 or A540 exit Jüchen, park in the residential area around Alleestraße. Public transport is recommended, as parking around the Kirmesplatz Alleestraße is limited.
