About Schützenfest Finnentrop
Schützenfest Finnentrop — edition 2026
The 2026 edition follows the proven structure. The preparatory meeting will already take place on May 31st, 2026; the club's general assembly was held on March 13th. The Schützenfest itself starts on Friday, July 3rd, with the opening ceremony and kickoff; continues on Saturday with the King's Shoot and the coronation ball; and concludes on Sunday with the festival parade and morning pint.
As with all Sauerland Schützenfeste, the festival hall is the focal point, complemented by outdoor areas for the festival parade and the King's Shoot. The mix of beer tent atmosphere, classic Schützen music, and coronation ceremony shapes the character of the festival.

Over 100 Years of Schützen Tradition
The Bürgerschützenverein Finnentrop 1921 e.V. (BSV) is one of the most traditional Schützen clubs in the Olpe district. For over 100 years, it has preserved Schützen culture in the southern Sauerland municipality of Finnentrop. The annual Schützenfest on the first weekend of July is the highlight of the club's year.
Three Days of Schützenfest in the Hall
The 2026 Schützenfest takes place from July 3rd to 5th — Friday to Sunday. The venue is the Schützenhalle Finnentrop, where the opening ceremony, dance evening, King's Shoot, coronation ball, and morning pint are held. Classic program points: mustering of the companies, festival parade through Finnentrop, King's Shoot, awarding of the crown to the new Schützenkönig (King), and a festive dance evening.
Sauerland Traditions
In Finnentrop, the Schützenfest is not just a club festival but also a major village event. Sauerland Schützenfeste have a distinctly communal character — they encompass all generations, from kindergarten to honorary members. The Schützenkönigin or Schützenkönig (with a King's couple each) symbolically reigns for one year and represents the club at other festivals in the region.
Finnentrop in the Olpe District
Finnentrop is a municipality with just under 17,000 inhabitants in the southern Sauerland, in the Olpe district. Nestled between the Lenne valley and the Bigge reservoir, the municipality is characterized by an active club scene and a distinctive Sauerland festival culture. The BSV Finnentrop is part of a whole series of Sauerland Schützen clubs that visit each other at their festivals.
Schützenfeste in the Olpe District
The Olpe district is one of the most densely populated Schützenfest regions in Germany. Almost every village has its own Schützen club with its own Schützenfest — and members regularly attend each other's festivals in neighboring communities. This networking gives Sauerland Schützen culture its special character: a mixture of local identity and supra-local connection, found in this density in no other German region.
Tips for Your Visit
Anyone who wants to experience the Schützenfest should focus on the festival parade on Sunday — the most colorful and representative program item. The Finnentrop Schützenhalle is a central event location for the municipality beyond the festival days; a walk along the Lenne or a detour to the nearby Bigge reservoir can turn the Schützenfest weekend into a complete Sauerland short trip.
