Traditional festival of the Schützengesellschaft von 1889 Enger e.V. with King Eike Pakendorf on the first weekend of July 2026
The Schützengesellschaft von 1889 Enger e.V. (SG Enger) is one of the most traditional shooting associations in East Westphalia. Founded in 1889, it is now divided into several companies (I, II, III, among others) and combines sport shooting, youth work, and the preservation of customs. Its motto: “We live in the spirit of shooting, we strive for civic harmony” – a commitment to civic harmony that has shaped the club's identity since its founding.
The next edition of the Schützenfest will take place from Saturday, July 4th to Monday, July 6th, 2026, at the club grounds, Freizeitweg 8, 32130 Enger. The King and Queen for 2026 are His Majesty Eike Pakendorf and Her Majesty Rosy Pakendorf, complemented by the throne couples Sabine and Domingo Pablo, Julia and Pasqual Pakendorf, and Kirsten Tamme and Christian Kollath. The festival weekend traditionally extends with preparatory and post-festival days reserved for members and invited guests.
The Schützenfest follows the classic East Westphalian festival calendar:
The Schützenfest is the highlight of a busy annual program. Throughout the year, SG Enger hosts numerous events:
In total, the 2026 event calendar includes over 50 dates – a testament to the club's vitality.
Enger is located in the Herford district in North Rhine-Westphalia and belongs to the East Westphalia-Lippe region. The town, with just under 21,000 inhabitants, holds special historical significance as the presumed burial place of the Saxon Duke Widukind (died around 808). The Schützenfest has been a fixed date in Enger's event calendar since the 19th century, bringing together members, families, and guests from the surrounding area.
The venue is the Schützenhaus with its adjacent festival grounds at Freizeitweg 8 – a site specifically designated for SG Enger. The festival tent hosts the coronation ball and dance evenings, while the muster and parade take place outdoors. Admission to the dance evenings is usually regulated by festival passes; admission to the general festival grounds is free.
The 2026 edition is dedicated to the reigning King and Queen Eike and Rosy Pakendorf, who lead the festival weekend. With the muster, parade, king's shooting competition, dance evening, and bird shooting, the program follows the classic East Westphalian Schützenfest calendar. SG Enger 1889 has communicated the date early; all members, guest clubs, and citizens are invited.
Exact times for the individual program points will be published in spring 2026 on sg-enger.de and in the local press.
Festival grounds freely accessible. Dance evenings in the festival tent with festival pass / admission fee (prices to be announced in spring 2026). Food and drinks extra.
