Traditional Schützenfest of the Burggrub Shooting Club
The Schützenfest Burggrub is the annual festival of the Schützenverein Burggrub e.V. The venue is the Schützenhalle (shooting hall) or Festhalle (festival hall) in Burggrub, a district of the mining community of Stockheim. The festival takes place over the Pentecost weekend and combines shooting traditions, brass band music, and conviviality.
On Saturday evening, festival activities with musical entertainment by the Stadtkapelle Teuschnitz begin at 8:00 PM. On Pentecost Sunday, a parade with the Blasmusik Modschiedel will march through the town at 1:15 PM. In the evening, from 7:30 PM, there will be festival activities with the band Die Wickendorfer, followed by the prize-giving ceremony and the announcement of the shooting kings. On Whit Monday, a church service in the festival hall at 9:30 AM and a traditional morning pint (Frühschoppen) starting at 10:30 AM will conclude the festivities.
With around 189 members – including 57 women and children – the Schützenverein Burggrub e.V. is firmly anchored in village life. The Schützenfest is the social highlight of the club's year and a meeting point for the entire community.
