The Schönstedt Christmas Market is a classic example of a club-supported village Christmas festival in Thuringia. On the first Advent weekend, the Anger Schönstedt — the historic village square, characterized by the brick building of the community inn built in 1899 — transforms into a pre-Christmas market. All local clubs participate with their own stands: Volunteer Fire Brigade, Folk Choir, Sports Club, Business Association, Poultry Club, Theater Group, Pentecost Society, "Schönstedter Grundschule in Bewegung", Dog Sports Club.

Delicacies, Entertainment, and Mulled Wine

The gastronomic offer ranges from mulled wine and egg punch to bratwurst, gingerbread, candied almonds, homemade cookies, and stollen. The theater group presents Christmas sketches, the folk choir sings Advent songs, the poultry club displays its animals. A dense, charming program in a small village — driven by volunteerism and strong club life.

The municipality of Schönstedt belongs to the rural municipality of Unstrut-Hainich in the Unstrut-Hainich district (state of Thuringia).
