Schönau Autumn Fair with Michaelis Market

Every year, Schönau in the Dahn Felsenland schedules its Autumn Fair (Herbstkerwe) for the weekend of the Michaelis Market. This combination has evolved and is nurtured by the local municipality because it brings synergy to both events: the Herbstkerwe benefits from the market's visitor influx, and the market benefits from the festive atmosphere of the Herbstkerwe. Saturday: Autumn Fair

The Herbstkerwe on Saturday is traditionally organized by the local showmen's or club alliance. In the festival tent or community center, there is live music, dancing, and Palatinate specialties. Clubs provide the catering, and a dance floor fills up over the course of the evening with guests of all generations. Small amusement rides and game stalls complete the picture.

Sunday: Michaelis Market

The Michaelis Market on Sunday is one of the largest agricultural and craft markets in the region. Around 40 exhibitors from the Palatinate and neighboring Alsace present their products: honey, jams, baked goods, farm cheeses, sausages, liqueurs, natural cosmetics, ceramics, wood carvings, and much more. A fanfare or brass band plays in the afternoon, old tractors are displayed in a show area, and culinary stands provide visitors with Flammkuchen, game sausages, and Schönau waffles.

Felsenland Tradition

The weekend is an example of the vibrant tradition and customs in the Dahn Felsenland. Clubs, the church community, and the local municipality work together to make tradition, enjoyment, and community tangible. Many visitors from the neighboring communities of Erfweiler, Dahn, and Bruchweiler-Bärenbach firmly schedule the weekend into their event calendars.
