Nature experience run through the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park
The Darß-Marathon combines endurance sports with one of Northern Germany's most impressive natural backdrops. The venue is Wieck a.Darß, a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district on the Baltic Sea peninsula of Fischland-Darß-Zingst in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Start and finish are at the Darßer Arche nature experience centre.
The large circular route leads from the start along the Wiecker Wiesen to Prerow harbour, through the Baltic Sea resort of Prerow, and into the Darßwald forest. The route crosses the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park towards the Großer Stern, follows the dike cycle path to the Baltic Sea resort of Ahrenshoop, and climbs up to the cliff edge via the Grenzweg – a profile that combines forest, Bodden (inland waters), steep coast, and Baltic Sea beach in a single lap.
The Darß-Marathon is not just a competition for specialists: In addition to the Marathon (42 km) and the Half Marathon (21 km), there are 10-km and 5-km runs, as well as Bambini and junior runs for children and teenagers. Walkers and Nordic walkers are also welcome at the half marathon. The courses are officially measured by the German Athletics Association (DLV).
A whole weekend revolves around the run: A family day with fun runs and children's races, a pasta party, and guided nature experience excursions complement the sporting programme. This makes the Darß-Marathon an event for the whole family and a regular spring fixture on the peninsula.
The Darß-Marathon 2026 will take place as a weekend event from April 25th to 26th, with start and finish at the Darßer Arche in Wieck a.Darß.
Race packs will be distributed at the Darßer Arche. All courses are DLV-measured.
The finish line closes for all competitions at 3:00 PM. Race packs will be distributed at the Darßer Arche on Friday (2–6 PM), Saturday (9 AM–6 PM), and Sunday (7–8 AM).
Wieck a.Darß is located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. By car via the B105 and the country road via Barth; the nearest train station is Barth, from where you can continue by bus. Start and finish at the Darßer Arche.
Race packs can be collected at the Darßer Arche on Friday and Saturday afternoons, and on Sunday morning before the races.
Register via the official website. Those who want to fully enjoy the weekend can combine the run with the guided nature experience excursions in the National Park.
