Film Music at the Moated Castle

Schloss Glücksburg, the white moated castle from the 16th century, is one of Northern Germany's most famous Renaissance castles. It is located in the town of Glücksburg (Ostsee) in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, directly on the Flensburg Fjord, and was the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg for centuries. Today, the Schloss Glücksburg Foundation houses a museum — and in the summer, the castle courtyard becomes an open-air stage.

Hollywood Sound on the Fjord Shore

The Schlosskonzert 'The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others' is the musical highlight of the summer program. The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra plays the most famous film compositions by Hans Zimmer — the Frankfurt-born Oscar winner who composed the soundtracks for Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Dune, and Pirates of the Caribbean — and supplements them with works by other great film composers.

More Than a Concert

Glücksburg in summer is a destination in itself — fjord beaches, the castle museum, guided boat tours on the 'Apfelfahrt' in October. Those who combine the concert with a day on the Flensburg Fjord will experience one of Schleswig-Holstein's most beautiful corners in its best summer form. The Glücksburg summer program also includes other open-air events such as a performance of Macbeth in the castle park and a Pink Floyd tribute 'The Dark Side of the Moon — Live in Concert'.
