800 Years of Castle History on the Edge of the Rhön
Schloss Aschach is located in the Franconian Saaletal valley in the district of Bad Kissingen, directly on the edge of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park. The castle ensemble looks back on around 800 years of history and today houses three museums under one roof: the Graf-Luxburg Museum (residential culture of the count's family around 1900), the Folk Art Museum, and the School Museum. The district of Lower Franconia is the patron.
Spring Festival with a Family Atmosphere
The Schlossfest is the annual opening of the summer season and is clearly aimed at families. Throughout the weekend, there are costumed guided tours with the castle's historical figures — Countess Carola, the maid — interactive family tours, a print workshop in the museum barn, and a puzzle tour for children. Little guests who come in castle costumes receive a small surprise at the museum ticket office.
Flea Market in the Castle Park
The spacious castle park transforms into a large flea market with brocante, collector's items, and bric-a-brac on both days. Visiting the flea market is free — only those who want to participate in the museum program and costumed guided tours pay the regular museum admission fee.
Music and Fashion
Live music is part of the festival weekend. On Saturday, Fabio Schmitt plays covers and his own songs from 1 PM to 4 PM. On Sunday — fitting for Mother's Day — the group »PrincesSa-Romantica« presents magnificent robes in the park, with Die Fränkische Farah performing modern dialect music and Nilz Hübenbecker inviting you to an interactive sing-along.
Catering in the Park
Two food trucks will be on site: Easy Cheezzy Parmaginni with Italian pasta specialties and the CaféCamper with cakes and coffee specialties. The food trucks are located directly in the castle ensemble, allowing visitors to take short breaks between tours, flea market rounds, and concerts.
