About Schloss Salem Open Air

Four open-air concerts will once again put the former Cistercian abbey of Schloss Salem in the Bodenseekreis district in the spotlight of the southern German summer concert scene in 2026. From July 24 to August 2, Roland Kaiser, Tream, David Garrett, and Michael Patrick Kelly will perform in the historic castle gardens — one of the most atmospheric open-air venues between Lake Constance and the Linzgau region. Since 2005, the organizer Allgäu Concerts has been bringing international stars to this unique setting between baroque facades and monastery gardens. Roland Kaiser is already sold out.

Open-Air Concerts in the Monastery Complex

Schloss Salem in the Linzgau region is one of the most impressive ecclesiastical complexes in southern Germany. The former 12th-century Cistercian Imperial Abbey was baroqueized in the 17th and 18th centuries and is now an unparalleled venue for open-air concerts. The organizer Allgäu Concerts (AC Live) has been hosting the concert series since 2005, regularly bringing top-class stars to the historic castle gardens: Sting, P!nk, Joan Baez, and many others have already performed here.

Line-up 2026 — From Schlager to Crossover Classical

Four concerts are scheduled for 2026. The series kicks off with Roland Kaiser on Friday, July 24 — already sold out, a testament to the enduring popularity of the schlager star. On Saturday, July 25, Tream, one of the most successful newcomers in the German schlager scene, will perform. On Saturday, August 1, world-class violinist David Garrett will perform one of his summer crossover concerts. On Sunday, August 2, Michael Patrick Kelly will close the series — the singer from the Kelly Family, who has carved out his own audience as a solo artist.

The Setting — A Monastery Town in Itself

Schloss Salem is more than just a concert venue: the monumental complex includes the minster, convent buildings, summer refectory, garden, and castle park. During the concert evening, the audience uses the expansive castle grounds as an open-air grandstand. The romantic-historic scenery merges with modern stage and lighting technology to create a concert experience that clearly stands out from traditional festival grounds. The combination of baroque architecture and the sprawling castle park creates a rare blend of cultural history and live experience.

Salem and the Bodenseekreis District

Salem is located in the Linzgau region, about ten kilometers north of Lake Constance, in the Bodenseekreis district (Baden-Württemberg). The municipality with around 11,500 inhabitants is also known for the renowned Salem School boarding school. In the immediate vicinity are the tourist attractions Affenberg Salem (around 200 Barbary macaques, freely accessible enclosure, treetop path) and the Schlosssee nature adventure park — ideal for an extended concert visit with the family.

Festival Atmosphere Instead of Concert Hall

For two decades, the Schloss Salem Open Airs have set the standard for open-air concerts in historic settings on Lake Constance. Unlike tickets for large festival grounds, here you receive a meticulously composed evening program in a complex whose architectural heritage is itself part of the staging. Summer evenings, long twilight, sounds from the park — this is the charm that makes the event series a highlight of the southern German open-air season year after year.

This is followed on July 25 by newcomer Tream, on August 1 by star violinist David Garrett with his crossover concerts, and on August 2 by Michael Patrick Kelly. The mix of schlager, crossover classical, and pop fits the classic Schloss Salem programming.
