Schlater Apfelfeschd 2026
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Obst- und Gartenbauverein Schlat e.V. invites you to the traditional Apfelfeschd in the village center. The association presents the full diversity of Swabian apple culture – from Boskoop to Brettacher to Rheinischer Bohnapfel – and shows, through tastings, juice pressing, a display of old varieties, and cider tasting, why the scattered orchards at the foot of the Swabian Alb are among the most valuable cultural landscapes in the region.
Culinary offerings include apple strudel, apple cake, apple pancakes, plum cake, Swabian snacks with apple sauce, cider, and apple juice. For children, there will be apple peeling, cider press tours, and games. A cozy harvest festival that makes the close connection between the community and the landscape at the Alb foothills tangible.

Schlater Apfelfeschd — Experiencing Fruit Culture
The Schlater Apfelfeschd is a classic harvest and fruit festival organized by the Obst- und Gartenbauverein Schlat e.V.. Held for several years – 2026 is expected to be the 8th edition – the festival celebrates the region's tradition of scattered orchards. Schlat is a designated fruit-growing community at the foot of the Swabian Alb, and its scattered orchards are among the most biodiverse habitats in the region. The Apfelfeschd makes this tradition publicly accessible.
Program — Tasting, Juicer, Old Apple Varieties
The Apfelfeschd follows a proven concept: tasting of various regional apple varieties (Boskoop, Brettacher, Berlepsch, Welschisner, Rheinischer Bohnapfel, and many more), pressing of fresh apple juice on-site, a display of old apple varieties to inform about the diversity of the Swabian apple landscape, cider tasting by amateur cider makers, culinary specialties centered around apples (apple strudel, apple cake, apple pancakes, Swabian snacks with apple sauce), as well as a family program with apple peeling, cider press tours, and games for children.
Swabian Alb — A Landscape of Scattered Orchards
Schlat (Göppingen district, AGS 08117, around 1,800 inhabitants) is located directly at the Swabian Alb foothills – the steep, often wooded northern edge of the Swabian Jura. The scattered orchards at the foot of the Alb have been agricultural cultural landscapes for centuries and are now the epitome of Southern German fruit culture. Schlat is one of the designated fruit-growing communities in this experience region – the apple landscape is part of the local identity.
Schlat and the Göppingen District
Schlat (Göppingen district) belongs to the Swabian Alb tourism region. The community is small but has an active club scene – a music association, a sports club, and especially the Fruit and Horticultural Association, which has been organizing the Apfelfeschd for years with great volunteer commitment. An example of the regional roots of Swabian cultural traditions.
