Pre-Christmas in the Town on the City Border
Schenefeld is located directly on the border with Hamburg in the Pinneberg district, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. This town of around 20,000 inhabitants hosts its Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt) every year on the first weekend of December on the town hall forecourt — a deliberate antithesis to the large, commercial Hamburg markets. - 3:00 PM — Market opening on the town hall forecourt
- 3:00 PM–10:00 PM — Wooden stalls with bratwurst, lard bread, pea soup, mulled wine
- 3:00 PM–8:00 PM — Arts and crafts stalls in the town hall (wooden toys, candles, wreaths)
- 4:00 PM–5:00 PM — Performance by a Schenefeld choir
- 5:00 PM–6:00 PM — Music program by school bands
- 6:30 PM — Mulled wine special at the stage fire
