14th Edition of the Schäferfest

With its 14th edition, the Schäferfest Klein Schneen 2026 looks back on a remarkable tradition. What began as a small farm festival has developed over the years into an established family event that attracts visitors from the entire Göttingen district and beyond. Its annual recurrence makes the festival a fixed date in the region's early summer calendar.

Six Festival Hours at the Hofgut

The festival on June 7, 2026, runs from 11 AM to 5 PM — six hours during which visitors can experience the sheep farm up close. The direct encounter with sheep and lambs, demonstrations of sheep-farming techniques, information on animal husbandry and landscape conservation, as well as the opportunity to pet and observe the animals, are the special attractions of the festival.

Regional Products and Sheep Specialties

Culinary offerings at the festival include specialties centered around sheep: lamb bratwurst, lamb skewers, sheep's milk cheese, sheep's milk yogurt, and other products from the Hofgut and regional producers. Stalls with wool products — knitting wool, felt items, hand-woven fabrics — showcase crafts related to sheep wool. Cakes, ice cream, and drinks complete the offerings.
