Bännjer Stroßefasching on Rose Monday starting at 2:11 PM at the Haus der Vereine
The Straßenfastnacht Bann, or Bännjer Stroßefasching, is one of the typical Palatinate carnival events where revellers celebrate not in a hall, but outdoors on the street. Bann is a small municipality in the Verbandsgemeinde Landstuhl, about 10 kilometers southwest of Kaiserslautern.
Unlike traditional gala sessions with dance troupes and satirical speeches, the Bännjer Stroßefasching takes place in the middle of the village. Stalls are set up around the Haus der Vereine, a stage with a DJ or live music is installed, and the street is converted into a festival area. Costumed guests, carnival music, mulled wine, beer, and Palatinate specialties ensure a jubilant atmosphere. The start at 2:11 PM is a typical carnival allusion to the lucky number 11.
Bann is picturesquely located in the Sickinger Land, a rural region on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. The town is accessible via the B 40 and connected by bus lines from Landstuhl and Kaiserslautern. Despite its manageable size, Bann is known for its lively club scene and dedicated village life.
The street carnival attracts revellers from the entire Verbandsgemeinde Landstuhl. Families, club members, young people, and seniors celebrate together, often in lovingly designed costumes. Local clubs provide catering, music, and entertainment, ensuring the festival lasts into the late afternoon and evening.
The 2026 edition of the Straßenfastnacht Bann follows the proven structure of the Bännjer Stroßefasching. The exact program details for 2026 will be published by the local municipality and the clubs in early February. The structure follows the established key points of previous years:
