Two weeks of cultural festival in the historic Schloss Triebenbach near Laufen an der Salzach
Schloss Triebenbach is located in the idyllic pre-Alpine landscape southeast of Laufen, just a few kilometers from Salzburg. The 16th-century castle has served as the central venue for the Salzach Festspiele since 2005. Most concerts take place in the castle courtyard under the open sky — with a tent roof in case of bad weather.
The program of the Salzach Festspiele is deliberately eclectic. Bavarian heavyweights like Gerhard Polt, Dreiviertelblut, D'BavaResi, or the tribute band Elton & The Joels perform alongside symphonic nature concerts by the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker and crossover formats like “Vivaldi bittet zum Tango”. Italian Schlager hits, Bavarian blues, and acoustic song evenings complement the spectrum.
Laufen is located in the Berchtesgadener Land district in the extreme southeast of Bavaria, in the so-called Rupertiwinkel — historically part of the Archbishopric of Salzburg for a long time, only coming to Bavaria in 1816. This special cultural status shapes the festival: the program and audience combine Bavarian and Salzburg influences, and many artists come from the border region.
The Salzach Festspiele are led by Stefan Feiler, in close cooperation with the city of Laufen under Mayor Christian Burr. Tickets sell out quickly every year — individual concerts are regularly sold out weeks before the festival begins.
The 2026 program is fully released: nine evenings spread over three weekends, each starting at 8:00 PM. All concerts take place in the courtyard of Schloss Triebenbach — with a tent roof in case of bad weather.
The festival opens on July 10 with the Bavarian cabaret classic Gerhard Polt and multi-instrumentalist Ardhi Engl. This is followed by dialect pop from Dreiviertelblut, a tribute evening to STS (“Auf A Wort”, already sold out), Italian world hits, a Vivaldi-Tango crossover with three regional choirs, an Elton John/Billy Joel tribute show, the musical cabaret D'BavaResi, the symphonic nature concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Bavarian Academy for Nature Conservation and Landscape Management (ANL), and the festival finale with Stubnblues 2.0.
