"Kerb" — the Lower Franconian Kirchweih
The Rummelsekerb is the annual Kirchweih of the community of Eichenbühl in the Miltenberg district (Bavarian Untermain). In the Lower Franconian-South Hessian dialect area, the Kirchweih is not called "Kirwa" as in Upper Franconia or "Kirta" as in Old Bavaria, but "Kerb". With its dialect name, the Rummelsekerb is a linguistic and cultural identity marker for the region around Miltenberg, Klingenberg, and Amorbach.
Festival Tent at Rathausplatz
The center of the Kerb is the festival tent at Rathausplatz (Main Street 97) — right in the village center of Eichenbühl. For three days, beer and Lower Franconian cuisine are served here: Bratwürste (sausages), Sauerbraten (marinated roast beef), Schäuferla (pork shoulder), potato salad, along with Franconian wine and beer from the surrounding breweries of the Untermain. Coffee and homemade cakes by the local women are also a fixed part of the program.
Kerb Customs
Like all Lower Franconian Kerb festivals, the Rummelsekerb follows a series of specific customs:
- Kerbbursche and Kerbmädchen (Kerb lads and Kerb girls) — the young members of the boys' or girls' association lead the festival parades.
- Kerbbaum-Aufstellen (Raising the Kerb tree) — the tall Kerb tree, decorated with ribbons, is erected on Rathausplatz — usually accompanied by music.
- Kerb-Predigt (Kerb sermon) — a humorous, sometimes cheeky and sarcastic speech commenting on the village events of the past year (often in dialect).
- Kerbtanz (Kerb dance) — evening dance event in the festival tent with a regional dance band or cover band.
Eichenbühl on the Untermain

Geographically, the village belongs to the hilly Vorderer Odenwald, culturally to the Lower Franconian Untermain with its sandstone houses and wine culture. The Rummelsekerb is the most important summer festival of the place and brings together locals, visitors, and former Eichenbühl residents.
When does it take place?
Traditionally on the third weekend in July. In 2026, the Rummelsekerb is scheduled for July 18 to 20 in the event calendar of the municipality of Eichenbühl.
