Half marathon and 10-km run around the Hengsteysee and Harkortsee lakes in Hagen
The Ruhrseen-Halbmarathon is a firm fixture in the North Rhine-Westphalia running calendar and one of the most scenically attractive half marathons in the region. On Sunday, April 19, 2026, the field will start again. Start and finish: Seestraße 4, 58089 Hagen — directly at the Familienbad Hengstey, at one of the most beautiful spots on the Hengsteysee.
The organizer offers two routes:
The course follows the lakeside paths of the Hengsteysee and Harkortsee, both Ruhr reservoirs that extend into the southern district of Hagen, bordering the towns of Herdecke and Wetter (Ruhr). Largely flat, with the water in view — a run where the landscape motivates you.
Behind the Ruhrseen-Halbmarathon is the Stadtsportbund Hagen (SSB), the umbrella organization of Hagen sports clubs. The SSB organizes the run with numerous volunteers from its member clubs. The event is supported by Hagen athletes — which makes it a true popular sports event, not just a commercial one.
The Hengsteysee was dammed in 1929 as the second Ruhr reservoir and is now one of the most important local recreation areas in the south of the city. On its western counterpart, the Harkortsee, the course continues along the city limits to Wetter (Ruhr). Those who run the half marathon will see both lakes up close and get a cross-section of the industrial history of the Ruhr area: reservoirs were built to secure the water supply of the region.
Anyone who registers gets a lot: finisher medal, intermediate and finish refreshments, digital certificate, timing by GIT with chip technology. For members of a Hagen sports club, there is a 15% discount on registration with the code RSHM15 — a direct bonus for the local sports community.
The price structure rewards early registration: the early bird rate applies until October 31 — half marathon €39.50, 10 km €22.50. Regularly, the half marathon costs €49.50 and the 10 km €27.50. Late registrations on the day of the event cost an additional €10.
The second race of the year in southern Hagen: Start is at Familienbad Hengstey, the course leads through the Ruhr lakes landscape with Hengsteysee and Harkortsee. Two distances — 10 km and half marathon (21.1 km) — offer a suitable challenge for all levels. Online registration via my.raceresult.com/379846.
Early bird (until 10/31): Half marathon €39.50, 10 km €22.50. Regular: €49.50 / €27.50. Late registration +€10.
