Carnival season of the Roßlebener Carnevalclub Rot-Weiß e. V. with parade, children's carnival, women's carnival, and gala sessions
The Roßlebener Carnevalclub Rot-Weiß e. V. — abbreviated as RCC — is one of the most traditional carnival associations in the northern Thuringian Kyffhäuser district. While Germany's carnival strongholds are mostly in the Rhineland, there is also a vibrant Fasching (carnival) with its own distinct tradition in Thuringia, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt. Roßleben-Wiehe is among the most active carnival towns in the region. The 2025/2026 season runs from January to February 2026 with several highlights.
The central day of the season is the Carnival Parade on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:11 PM — the typical carnival time of 2:11 PM (1+4+1+1=Eleven = 11, the 'foolish number') marks the start of the festive parade through Roßleben. Floats, guards, dance groups, and elaborate costumes characterize the cityscape. On Friday, February 13, at 7:33 PM, the Women's Carnival follows — a traditional women's carnival event with shows, dancing, and music. The conclusion is the Children's Carnival on Sunday, February 15, at 2:33 PM — a family festival with a costume contest, games, and dancing.
The entire season is marked by Gala Sessions and Evening Events: satirical speeches about local politics and everyday life, dance performances by the guard, music acts, and performances by show dancers. These sessions are the heart of organized carnival and are part of the classic repertoire of a German carnival club. The RCC has maintained this format for decades with its own dance groups, show teams, and satirists from the town.
The twin town of Roßleben-Wiehe is located in northern Thuringia on the edge of the Hohe Schrecke in the Kyffhäuser district (state of Thuringia). Roßleben is known for the Klosterschule Roßleben — one of Germany's oldest boarding schools (founded in 1554). During the carnival season, the carnival club's hall fills with carnival-goers from Roßleben and the surrounding area. Arrival via A38 exit Heldrungen or Sangerhausen.
The peak of the season falls on the second and third weekends of February 2026 with the parade, women's carnival, and children's carnival. Before and in between, gala sessions take place — the RCC's hall operations are busy throughout the entire season, with some sessions regularly selling out.
