Antiquity to Touch in Rosenheim
The Rosenheim Roman Festival is a historical hands-on festival in the Mangfallpark of the independent city of Rosenheim in the state of Bavaria. It takes place as an accompanying program to the major special exhibition “ROMANS – Faces of a World Empire,” which the Lokschuppen Rosenheim exhibition center presents across 1,500 square meters.
The Roman Camp
In Mangfallpark, reenactment groups set up an authentic Roman camp. Roman daily life comes alive here: camp crafts, equipment, weaponry, and the lives of legionaries, citizens, merchants, and families are vividly demonstrated.
Demonstrations
The program includes gladiator fights, the staging of a Roman wedding, and demonstrations of historical crafts. Among the guests is the well-known reenactment group Legio IX Hispana, which impressively portrays the Roman military and living world.
Program for Families
For children, there is a mosaic puzzle booklet, workshops, children's tours, and joint hands-on activities. The festival combines the special exhibition in the Lokschuppen with a sensory experience under the open sky and makes ancient history understandable for all age groups.
Atmosphere
Between tents, campfires, and clashing swords, a vivid picture of Roman antiquity emerges in Mangfallpark — a highlight in the series of events surrounding the Rosenheim Roman exhibition.
