About Rönneburg Marksmen's Festival
Rönneburg Marksmen's Festival — edition 2026
The season opener for the Harburg marksmen will again follow the proven three-day schedule in 2026. Festival Friday, May 8th, begins at 3 PM with Family Day and the "pay once, ride twice" promotion — the discount voucher in the festival flyer entitles you to a double ride on the bumper cars or children's carousel.
Saturday and Sunday will feature the King's Shoot, the evening festival in the tent, and on Sunday, the proclamation of the new Marksmen's King. The complete daily program will be available from the Rönneburg Marksmen's Club and in the local press (harburg-aktuell.de).

A Tradition for Over 125 Years
The Rönneburg Marksmen's and Surrounding Area Club of 1897 e.V. is one of Hamburg's most traditional marksmen's clubs. Its Marksmen's and Folk Festival traditionally marks the start of the Harburg marksmen's season and gathers residents from Rönneburg, the Harburg district, and beyond every May. The fairgrounds are located at Küstersweg 15 in the southernmost tip of Hamburg, on the edge of the Rosengarten.
Three Days of Folk Festival
The program follows an established three-day schedule:
- Friday — Family Day with the "pay once, ride twice" promotion. With vouchers from the festival flyer, you can ride the bumper cars and children's carousel twice — designed for young families who come early in the weekend.
- Saturday — Main festival day with a marksmen's parade, evening festival in the tent with live music
- Sunday — Crowning of the new Marksmen's King, morning pint (Frühschoppen), family program
What to Eat, Drink, and Experience
Classic folk festival attractions are available on the fairgrounds: a bumper car ride, several children's carousels, shooting galleries, and throwing stalls. The typical scents waft from the snack stands: bratwurst, candied almonds, fried pastries, Schmalzkuchen. The beer tent — the heart of every marksmen's festival — offers Hanseatic Pilsner and North German schnapps specialties.
Shooting and Kingship
At the center is the traditional King's Shoot, where the next Marksmen's King is determined. The proclamation takes place on the festival Sunday; the reigning king or queen "abdicates" and the new dignitary is honored with the king's chain. It is the ritual that gives every North German marksmen's festival its identity.
Rönneburg — Hamburg's Rural South
The Rönneburg district in the Harburg borough is not the first place Hamburg tourists think of — and that's precisely the charm of the festival. Here, at the border with Lower Saxony's rural area, marksmanship has its authentic place, far from big-city culture. Anyone who wants to experience traditional Hamburg beyond the Reeperbahn and HafenCity will find it here.
