Three Days of Tradition and Family Fun in the City Centre
Gemünden am Main, where the Sinn and Saale rivers flow into the Main, celebrates one of its most important city festivals with the Kirchweih- und Heimatfest. The city centre around the market square becomes a festival mile: Franconian Kirchweih delicacies, wines from the Franconian Wine Region, a culinary spectacle, and live music characterise the weekend. The festival combines conviviality with living traditions.
In 2026, the festival runs from 3rd to 5th July. Friday begins with the ceremonial beer tapping, accompanied by the Langenprozelten music club (4:30 PM–6:30 PM), and from 7:30 PM, the band Overdrive will provide the atmosphere. Saturday from 12 PM is dedicated to families — with a children's programme, face painting, glitter tattoos, mascots, and the children's ride EMMA; from 5 PM, the wine pavilion in the Pfarrhof opens, and from 7 PM, the band The Jets plays until 11:30 PM. Sunday emphasises tradition: a parade with club banners at 9:30 AM, followed by a church service, an afternoon for seniors, and performances by local music groups.
Gemünden am Main is located in the Main-Spessart district, in the state of Bavaria, at the confluence of the Main, Sinn, and Fränkische Saale rivers. The town is considered the gateway to the Spessart and the Franconian Wine Region — an environment that is reflected in the Kirchweih- und Heimatfest.
