Multi-award-winning wine festival with art vernissage in the Kurpfälzischer Zehnthof on the first weekend of August
“Wein & Kunst” (Wine & Art) in Gleisweiler is one of the most original and multi-award-winning wine festivals in the Pfalz region. From Friday, July 31, 2026, to Monday, August 3, 2026, the festival format combines the wine of Gleisweiler vintners with a vernissage and art exhibition in the historic Kurpfälzischer Zehnthof. The concept of wine and art as a symbiosis has made the festival a firm fixture in the calendar for wine and art enthusiasts.
Gleisweiler is located on the slope of the Vorderpfalz mountains between Edenkoben and Annweiler, framed by vineyards and the Palatinate Forest. The Kurpfälzischer Zehnthof – a historic 18th-century building – is the venue for the vernissage and the main festival activities. Its multiple awards as the “most beautiful wine festival” underscore the character of the event: small, refined, curated.
What sets Gleisweiler Wine & Art apart from other Pfalz wine festivals is the consistent integration of visual arts. Annually, exhibiting artists are invited, and their works are showcased in the Kurpfälzischer Zehnthof. The vernissage on the festival Friday opens both the wine festival and the exhibition – a format that places wine tasting and art appreciation within a shared framework.
The Kurpfälzischer Zehnthof in Gleisweiler is an 18th-century historic building where farmers' tithes were once stored. Today, the courtyard has been restored and hosts the art exhibition as well as central wine stands during the festival. The building and its courtyard offer a backdrop with historical patina that shapes the character of the festival.
Gleisweiler wineries present their wines in the courtyard and at stands in the village center. The range includes Riesling, white and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), cuvées, sparkling wines, and rosé. The hillside location of the Gleisweiler vineyards – with south and southwest orientation – produces expressive wines with good acidity structure, which perfectly complement the curated wine festival format.
Gleisweiler Wine & Art has repeatedly been honored as the “most beautiful wine festival in the Pfalz.” The justifications cite the symbiosis of wine and art, the preservation of the historic building fabric, and the meticulous organization of the festival. The event attracts a focused audience of wine and art lovers who consciously avoid the atmosphere of a mass festival.
A symbiosis of wine and visual arts in a historic setting. Curated format, focused audience. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
