Baroque Autumn Market in the Residence on the Lahn

The Residenzmarkt Weilburg is the most important autumn event in the Hessian city of Weilburg on the Lahn. From October 10th to 11th, 2026, the 37th edition will take place around Schlossplatz and in the historic city center. The market thematically picks up on the city's baroque history: Weilburg was the residence of the Princes of Nassau-Weilburg.

Baroque Flair and Market Bustle

The market concept focuses on "Baroque Flair & Colorful Market Bustle": actors in baroque costumes, theater performances, courtly play scenes. In Mauerstraße, there are interactive baroque games for families – children can immerse themselves in the world of electors and ladies-in-waiting.

Craftsmen, Merchants, and Regional Food Producers

At the market itself, craftspeople, merchants, and regional food producers present themselves – with a focus on Hessian specialties. The offerings range from Westerwald cheese to Lahn trout, from woodturners to candle makers.

Agricultural Machinery Show on König-Konrad-Platz

A special feature of the Residenzmarkt is the show of historical and modern agricultural machinery on König-Konrad-Platz: from old tractors to modern combine harvesters, the exhibition showcases 100 years of agricultural technology – a reflection of the agriculturally influenced surroundings in the Lahn-Limburg-Weilburg district.

Sunday Shopping

On Sunday, October 11th, Sunday shopping runs from 12 PM to 6 PM – shops in Weilburg's city center open specially. This allows market browsing to be combined with shopping.

About Weilburg

Weilburg is a medium-sized town with around 13,000 inhabitants in the Limburg-Weilburg district, located high above the Lahn river loop. Weilburg Castle with its baroque garden is considered one of the most beautiful residential palaces in Hesse – the festival backdrop for the Residenzmarkt.

About Weilburg Castle

Weilburg Castle is a residential complex from the 16th–18th centuries and is considered one of the most beautiful residential palaces in Hesse. The Princes of Nassau-Weilburg systematically developed the Renaissance castle into a baroque palace complex – with a castle church, orangery, and a terraced castle garden high above the Lahn loop. The Residenzmarkt uses this representative architecture as a festival backdrop and thematically draws on the city's baroque history.
