First fair of the season on Willy-Brandt-Platz
Rendsburg boasts a long fair tradition with four markets per year – the Spring Market in April marks the start of the season, followed by the Summer Market (July), Autumn Fest (August), and the main Autumn Market in September. The organizer is Rendsburg Tourismus + Marketing GmbH, whose market master Tobias Hercher selects the showmen.
The 2026 edition once again brings the central showman highlights to the square:
A characteristic of the Rendsburg fairs is the close connection with showman families, some of whom have been running their businesses for several generations and have been guests in Rendsburg for decades. This continuity gives the markets their specific character – less of an anonymous large event and more of a family reunion with the square and its regular visitors.
With around 28,000 inhabitants, Rendsburg is the district town of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and one of Northern Germany's most important transport hubs – at the intersection of the Kiel Canal, the A7 motorway, and the Hamburg–Kiel/Flensburg railway line. The fair serves an catchment area far beyond the city.
The 2026 season kicks off in Rendsburg with the Spring Market. The date, April 10th to 13th, is confirmed by the showman magazine Jahrmarkt-Nord and Rendsburg Tourismus + Marketing GmbH. Among the highlights are two new attractions alongside the classics: 9D Action Cinema and Haunted House.
Following the Spring Market, three more fairs are scheduled in 2026:
This ensures Willy-Brandt-Platz remains a central venue for Northern German fair tradition throughout the season.
The detailed daily schedule will be published by the organizer a few days before the market begins. Based on experience, the event is structured as follows:
Specific opening hours are available at rendsburg-tourismus-marketing.de.
Admission to the fairgrounds is free. Rides are charged at standard showman rates, typically €3 to €5 per ride.

By train, Rendsburg is an important IC stop – direct from Hamburg (1h 30m) and Flensburg. From the main station, it's about a 10-minute walk to Willy-Brandt-Platz. By car, take the A7 (exit Rendsburg/Büdelsdorf). Parking is available in the city area; some may be inaccessible during the market due to road closures.
