Free Rock Open Air in the Ortenau — Comeback after nine years
The Rench'n'Rock Open Air was a firm fixture in the Baden rock scene in the mid-2010s. In 2026, it returns to Renchen after a nine-year break – a small town in the Ortenau district between Offenburg and Achern, on the edge of the foothills of the Black Forest. Behind the comeback is the newly founded association Rench'n'Rock e.V., a collective of musicians, sound technicians, and organizers who are bringing their festival back to life themselves.
The concept is explicitly grassroots-oriented: instead of relying on major sponsors, the team financed a significant part of the 2026 festival through the crowdfunding platform Startnext. The goal was reached in 2025 – a clear sign that the people of Renchen and the Baden music scene want the festival back.
The festival consciously sees itself as a platform for emerging and established regional musicians – genres around rock, indie, punk, and handmade guitar music.
Like many open-air festivals in the region, Rench'n'Rock relies on free admission. The festival is financed through crowdfunding, club memberships, and on-site catering: food, drinks, and merchandise are the main sources of income on the festival day.
Anyone who comes to Renchen on June 20, 2026, supports more than just a concert: Rench'n'Rock is an expression of a vibrant club culture in Baden-Württemberg, where musicians, craftspeople, and volunteers work together to put on a festival. Participation is explicitly encouraged – anyone interested in volunteering or with their own ideas can contact the team directly.
The Rench'n'Rock Open Air 2026 kicks off on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Renchen. Free admission. The lineup is fully announced: Ausfahrt53, Die Sprittler, Petricore, and The Rising Hope will play handmade rock, indie, and punk music. The organizer will provide information on the order and times via the official website and social media in the spring.
The festival was successfully financed in 2025 through crowdfunding on Startnext. Those who wish to support the festival on-site can purchase food and drinks at the stands, buy merchandise, or volunteer for setup and dismantling.
Set times will be communicated in the weeks leading up to the festival.
Renchen is located on the B3 federal road between Offenburg and Achern (Ortenau district). Renchen train station is on the Karlsruhe–Basel line. Approximately 15 minutes by car from Offenburg.
Free admission. Consume on-site.
Anyone who wants to secure the next edition can find information on crowdfunding campaigns, volunteer work, or merchandising on the official website.
